About me
Halee came to farming with a degree in Modern Dance and a resume filled with professional cooking jobs. She met her husband John while working at the restaurant Prune in New York City, and after several years of doing the kitchen hustle, was eager to join in his dream of returning to farm in the Driftless region of Wisconsin. In 2015 they partnered with Paul Bickford on his organic farm in Ridgeway, and now manage 1,200 acres raising culinary small grains, buckwheat, edible dry beans, and open pollinated corn, as well as feed and forage crops. In 2021 John and Halee launched Meadowlark Community Mill, an on-farm flour mill committed to sourcing grain from regional organic farmers and producing high-quality stone ground flour and other staple food crops. In addition to managing two businesses, Halee and John have three kids, Henry, Lyda, and Mathilde, a grass-fed beef herd, and a backyard flock of ducks, and geese, just to make sure they keep busy.
